When it comes to meeting your Scandinavian dream girl, Copenhagen is a rookie trap. Every weekend, thousands of guys step off a budget flight, drop fifty quid on two lukewarm Carlsbergs, and spend three days competing with a horde of desperate tourists for a single glance from a local. It is exhausting, expensive, and completely unnecessary because, as you will see in my guide today, you have much better options out there.
Dragging my laptop from one cafe to the next as a digital nomad across Europe, I have traveled up and down this Viking homeland for years. And today I am here to tell you that the real magic happens outside the capital.
The women in these seven alternative cities are just as stunning, far less fatigued by foreign guys, and incredibly easy to strike up a conversation with. Let us look at where you should actually be booking your train tickets.
Aarhus
Sitting right in the center of Denmark, Aarhus is one of the country’s oldest cities. It also throws some of the most chaotic student parties in Europe.
This means the crowd skews younger, and these girls absolutely know how to live life to the fullest without the pretentious Copenhagen attitude.
Aarhus is also known to have one of the best live music scenes in the country (if not in Europe as a whole). It has always had an incredibly young population, hence it has also always been the center of new and exciting music.
From jazz clubs that have been popular since the 1950s to rock and metal venues that took off in the ’70s and ’80s, there’s something for every music lover. Festivals like NorthSide and SPOT are the highlights each year, with many smaller ones offering fantastic opportunities to mingle with the beautiful Danish women.
Here are some places I recommend checking out:
- Train: A popular nightclub known for its diverse music and energetic crowd. (Check it out on Google Maps here)
- VoxHall: A great live music venue hosting a variety of concerts. (Check it out on Google Maps here)
- Latinerkvarteret (Latin Quarter): A charming area with cafes and bars. I really enjoyed walking around this neighborhood, and it is absolutely perfect for your daytime game.
Horsens
Although Horsens is smaller than Aarhus, you can almost say there is more happening there. Aarhus is the center for Danish music and culture, while Horsens is where all the international performers go.
The Horsens New Theater has welcomed Madonna, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams and so many more. Needless to say, the party doesn’t stop even when there are no big-name celebrities coming in.
The party definitely does not stop when the big names leave town. The locals love a good night out, and you will find plenty of beautiful Danish women enjoying the loud, crowded bars.
Horsens also caters to specific niches with events like Krimimessen, a massive annual crime literature festival that attracts famous authors and enthusiasts. These intelligent, well-read girls make for incredible company – they’re smart, cute and, if everything else fails, they can at least recommend a good book.
Then there is the Medieval festival. Yes, it sounds like an awkward middle school event nobody wanted to attend. But as a guy who spent way too much of his life obsessing over heavy RPGs like Gothic and Heroes of Might and Magic, I can tell you the Horsens Medieval festival is a brilliantly wild time.
People take the costumes seriously, but they take the drinking and partying even more seriously. Very few historical morals apply to the after-parties. You get to have a great time and watch guys in chainmail drink themselves into a stupor while incredibly attractive women laugh at them.
Some places where you can meet local girls:
- Platform K: This is the city’s modern hub, perfect to catch live music and meet the younger, creative crowd.
- Horsens Art Museum: For a cultural twist and if you’re looking for some truly sophisticated Danish women.
Aalborg
Aalborg is Denmark’s fourth biggest city and a large part of that population is, you guessed it, university students.
There are more than 17,000 students enrolled in the Aalborg university and there are several smaller colleges as well. Aalborg is truly a city that never sleeps. Even outside the school year, there are a bunch of festivals that attract people this way. You will not be bored.
The Aalborg Carnival in May is Scandinavia’s largest carnival, attracting over 100,000 people. It’s a week-long extravaganza of parades, costumes, and parties – an ideal time if you’re looking to meet some beautiful Danish girls, many of which are really up for a quick fling.
Aalborg is also the place with the happiest people in Europe. I am serious, the European Commission said it – the citizens of Aalborg are the most satisfied with their city in the whole of Europe. If that does not convince you that the place is worth a visit, I don’t know what will.
When you go out, you have to hit up Jomfru Ane Gade. It is Denmark’s most famous party street, and it actually holds the title for being the longest continuous street of bars and clubs in all of Scandinavia. Can it get any better than that?
Herning
It might sound like a Herring – and therefore not interesting at all, but this is a great place to find beautiful Danish women, including some hidden gems.
The city is quieter and less chaotic than the student towns. I personally love that it attracts a mature crowd. Many of the women you meet here are senior professionals in their fields. The sticky-floored clubs are replaced by excellent jazz bars and high-end lounges.
Fine wine and dining are much better developed in Herning. There will be no shortage of impressive restaurants to bring your date to, so if you are looking for something higher brow, Herning is the city you should focus on.
It’s perfect if you’re looking for more mature women and you have your business suit around. You’ll be surprised to see how many successful women haven’t found their match yet and how open-minded and ready to mingle and destress they are.

Odense
Here is a fun fact about Odense. That is where Hans Christian Andersen was born, the guy who wrote virtually all of your favorite fairy tales. Well, the ones that he didn’t write come from the Brothers Grimm.
A lot of things are H.C. Andersen-themed around Odense, including the marathon and the airport. Plus, the beautiful Danish women are out of a fairy tale as well! Who knows? Maybe you get to meet the next world-famous Danish model here.
As a commercial hub with notable shopping districts, Odense attracts a diverse crowd. You will find both affluent locals and a massive student population, thanks to the University of Southern Denmark.
Because of the large university presence, there are thousands of young, intelligent women living in the city. You have a great ratio of female students here, which makes the dating pool very active and approachable. There are a lot of decent, career-driven girls around.
In short, you would not struggle to meet beautiful Danish women in Odense, not to mention that they are significantly more than the guys (a.k.a. you have a statistical advantage).
Good places I recommend for finding your next date:
- Den Smagløse Café: A quirky spot popular with students. Its name translates to “The Tasteless Cafe” but trust me – it’s actually amazing! (Check it on Google Maps here).
- Lørups Vinstue: One of the oldest bars in Odense, known for its cozy ambiance.
Esbjerg
Esbjerg is a seaport city but it also has some pretty cool beaches (if you happen to be here in the three days per year when the weather is actually beach-appropriate).
Esbjerg can be a fun couple of days’ trip from Aalborg. It is around 250 kilometers away, but the drive only takes about two and a half to three hours because Danish freeways are exceptionally good.
Esbjerg is also cheaper if we compare it to the overall cost of living in Denmark. Since your pursuit of meeting beautiful Danish women might end up pretty expensive, that would be a welcome break from all the big spending.
If you are wondering if the nightlife and girls are worth it – yes, totally. A pub I could recommend to start off the night is Paddy Easy Go. Head over to the Dronning Louise – Natklub or to No. 31 for some cocktails and a lot of dancing (also a lot of beautiful Danish women).
Oh, and I also must mention the Rustik. It’s a dance club with some pretty amazing DJ’s coming in every weekend. But more importantly, it has been designed to look like an Eastern European factory. And you know I love Eastern European women…
Vejle
Vejle is a Danish town that completely flips your expectations. I know some people think of old, historical Danish towns, but Vejle is actually world-renowned for its striking modern architecture.
When you walk near the water, you will see incredible structures like The Wave and Fjordenhus sitting right alongside 19th-century industrial buildings.
In terms of nightlife, it is significantly calmer than the university cities on this list. You would not find a shortage of amazing jazz clubs and quirky cocktail places, though. Vejle is the perfect place to meet those beautiful Danish women, but it is also refreshingly authentic.
There is very little international tourism here. The city has largely stayed off the global radar. Being a foreigner here instantly makes you interesting. People will actually want to know what brought you to their hometown. Just make sure you know how to hold a good conversation.
Conclusion
There you have it – seven great Danish cities where you can meet beautiful women and experience the country beyond Copenhagen. I have to warn you, though, Danish girls are not the easiest to get.
Half of the games we usually play (we as in ‘guys and girls alike’) they see right through. You would do best to stick to being yourself.
Cliche, cookie-cutter advice, I know, but Scandinavian girls are so no-BS that this is one of the few strategies that will always work.
