Slovenian girls are beautiful, and they will surely be the first thing you notice when you arrive in Slovenia.
But looks don’t tell the whole story and just based on that alone, you have no idea what to expect. This is when I come to the rescue, as today I share my full and unfiltered guide to Slovenian woman, how to date them and what to expect from a relationship with one.
So, let’s start with the beginning and find out what they’re like.
What are Slovenian girls and women like?

First of all, make sure that you never confuse Slovenia with Slovakia. These are two different countries and even though Slovakian girls are also amazing, that’s not what we’re talking about here.
Slovenia is a small Central European country with just over 2.1 million residents and most of them are Slavic.
While we all know that generalizing does not guarantee full success – people being unique, after all, we have to do it and consider that most of the ladies here follow the stereotypes and everything else I am sharing below.
Sure, this also means that you can meet a very independent lady in Ljubljana, a woman who spends every weekend outdoors, a student who will only talk to you via the phone, a traditional family-oriented woman who wants to care for kids and do home chores all day long, or someone who has lived abroad and feels completely at home in an international environment.
In other words, just like anywhere else, you can find ANYTHING here. BUT a typical Slovenian girl would be:
- Slim or athletically built
- Blond (usually a darker, dishwasher blond)
- With fair complexion (but not as pale as your traditional Swedish blonde)
Slovenians are mostly Roman Catholics. They are not as traditional as other Catholic people, but the church still plays a part in society.
Chances are that your Slovenian crush has been raised in a Christian family. When it comes to relationships, she prefers someone who’s at least a little bit open-minded.
If you are a fierce atheist, it might be hard to snag a Slovenian since religion still plays at least a small part in their culture.
At the same time, don’t expect women in Slovenia to be overly conservative. They are usually very open minded and won’t automatically turn down a one night stand just because “it isn’t done.”
At the same time, this is not a very popular practice here in Slovenia, so expect this to work every now and then only. Women here usually look for serious relationships.
Slovenia is also a rapidly growing economy. People are richer, more educated, and they have more opportunities than ever.
Even though Slovenia is tiny, it has taken full advantage of the membership in the European Union. This means younger people are more well-travelled and, yes, it also means that they speak good English.
Are You Latino?
Apparently, for some unknown reason, Slovenian women are seriously into Latino men.
Maybe not even just Latino guys, also Portuguese and Spanish dudes. Italy is right by Slovenia, so Italian men aren’t such a novelty. They are still considered to be among the most attractive men, though.
Latin American culture is super popular in Slovenia. There are many Spanish speakers, weirdly enough. Virtually every girl would tell you that Spanish is the nicest language out there. (I agree, even though I’m not Slovenian).
So let’s break down what Slovenian women love about Latino guys:
- The facial hair (a superficial one but it’s important)
- That confident, sweep-her-off-her-feet attitude
- The accent
- They have an exotic factor to them
Of course, the accent might be attractive to one woman and annoying to another. Facial hair can be a plus for one person and a deal-breaker for someone else. And that is exactly how dating should work. But based on my experience, having Latin roots helps.
But What If I’m Not Latino?
Even if you flunked Spanish in high school, there are plenty of ways to win a Slovenian over. My personal theory is that these girls love novelty. Look at the list above and try to also tick as many things off it and you’re set.
Your nationality is only one small part of what makes you interesting. What matters much more is whether you actually have a life of your own.
Slovenia is tiny and you can’t really survive without a second (and usually a third) language.

Slovenian women start learning about other cultures at a very young age. They are naturally very curious. Just the fact that you come from abroad makes you more interesting and it gives you bonus points.
The second huge factor is not being like local guys. It doesn’t matter if you’re from another (larger) EU country, from across the ocean in either direction (US, or even a Thai man…) it’s all new and interesting for them.
So yes, being foreign can help start a conversation and maybe give you a slight advantage, but it cannot carry the relationship.
Even though this is a modern and well-developed country, there are some seriously patriarchal traditions and beliefs here still.
Being an Alpha, Not a Jerk
There is a widely spread belief online that an alpha man is the same thing as a macho man. I don’t buy that. And with their attraction to Latino men, you might be tempted to believe that this would be a good trait to have. Let me clarify the difference to you:
An alpha knows himself and knows his purpose. He is living his truth and has very little need to prove himself to anybody. That’s why a true alpha can be confident without being cocky.
Sadly, a lot of men associate the word alpha with the loud and obnoxious macho attitude. I’m just going to go ahead and say it:
You will not get any high-value woman with that mindset!
A girl that is worth dating for the long-term will not put up with your BS. She would only date a guy that she can respect deeply.
Trust me, that cocky stud attitude is just another way of saying “I grew my pubes later than my peers and I was bullied in middle school”.
Slovenian women are pros at recognizing the true confidence in an alpha. Aggressive masochism puts them off (and is generally an annoying character trait).
This one goes beyond dating a Slovenian girl, of course. Work on yourself before you seek a relationship.
Are you the man that you’d want your daughter to marry? Are you living a purposeful life and do you have the inner confidence that stems from that?
It’s fine if you don’t have it all figured out as long you don’t settle for the jerk moves. These will not get you a Slovenian girlfriend.
How to Meet Girls In Slovenia

Tinder is just as popular in Slovenia as it is elsewhere. Other dating apps like Bumble, Coffee meets Bagel, Happn and the millions of new ones that are coming out every day… Not so much.
Slovenian culture is still a bit old-fashioned. Most girls would prefer to meet their boyfriend through mutual friends, an activity that they both like, or even at work.
Yes, this is another fun fact for you. Office romance is not taboo in Slovenia and in fact a lot of couples start this way.
As for Tinder, you’ll find it is not the hook-up app that you know, at least not here. Slovenian women on Tinder still like to play hard to get. So even online, you will have to work a bit to get them.
If you are only in Slovenia for a short time, I have some serious advice for you:
Don’t seek a long-distance relationship on Tinder.
No matter how hard you try and how well you click during your IRL dates, Tinder is not good for long-distance romance.
If you are relocating, though, the app is great to meet and start dating a beautiful Slovenian girl.
But I have an even better option for you! My recommended website below will surely bring you better results and less of a time waste. I am talking about a classic dating website and app and, as I mentioned above, this is my recommended one.
Unlike Tinder, women here this website is dedicated to connecting relationship-minded women to men abroad.
The Slovenian girl you will meet on there is already in for a long-distance thing. There are many reasons women want that. In my experience, it’s usually:
- Either she is working hard right now and does not have the time for traditional dating,
- or she finds local guys disappointing.
The latter is obviously the better option. You want somebody that will have the time to invest. But here is one thing that’s always true of Slovenian women:
No matter how busy she is, if a Slovenian girl wants to spend time with you, she will make it happen.
I know that is a hard truth to swallow. However, it’s about time we learn that no answer is an answer.
Whether you are currently in the same physical space or not, if a Slovenian girl wants more than a fling, she will put the work in.
The Best Thing about Dating a Slovenian Girl

Slovenian women know the importance of a stable relationship. They cherish the person that they’re with. When things are good, they are very very good.
Unlike Western women, Slovenians prioritize relationships and family over everything else. It’s a two-sided thing, of course. Since she is investing so much in you, you would be expected to invest as well.
But once you get in a relationship with a Slovenian girl, you can count on her total loyalty and acceptance. And I have to quote Melania Trump (who’s also Slovenian, by the way!) on this one:
I think the mistake some people make is they try to change the man they love after they get married. You cannot change a person.
Whether you are a fan of the former First Lady or not, you have to give it to her.
She does have a very mature and healthy approach to relationships. I have found most Slovenian women to be like that.
They are independent and they respect themselves enough to not be with the wrong person. If you are the right person, they will have your back, no matter what.
Dating Etiquette in Slovenia
I think that the best advice I can give you when it comes to dating Slovenian women is to forget tricks altogether.
Be direct enough that she knows you are interested, but relaxed enough that she never feels pressured. And don’t use pickup lines or other cheesy or downright creepy things. Be yourself – that’s what you want her to like.
For a first date, I like keeping things simple. A coffee, a drink, dinner (don’t go overboard here!) or a walk gives you enough time to talk without turning the whole thing into a grand production.
Don’t treat paying the bill as a test of masculinity. Offer to pay if you want to, but don’t turn it into an argument if she wants to split it.
The same applies to physical affection. Don’t assume anything based on nationality. Pay attention to how the person in front of you responds, and let things develop naturally.
I would also avoid comparing her with women from your own country or other women from hers.
“I’ve never met a Slovenian woman like you” sounds romantic in your head. It can sound a lot less flattering when the other person realizes you have spent the date mentally comparing her with other ladies. Plus, it shows that you’re out there “hunting” and not necessarily found her as the one.
Finally, remember that the opposite works the same way: she doesn’t need to prove that she is beautiful, family-oriented, traditional, independent, liberal or adventurous enough to qualify as a Slovenian woman. She just needs to be herself.
Wrapping up
Slovenian women are truly one of a kind. They are beautiful, they are family-oriented and open minded at the same time, and they usually give it their all in a relationship.
I can only hope that my article managed to paint a clearer picture of what to expect from a woman in Slovenia. If you have additional comments to make – especially on aspects that I haven’t covered, don’t hesitate to do so by commenting below.
All of this information was very useful to me as I’m traveling to there in august. I’m very serious about finding a lovely Slovenian lady. I’m of the older generation and I hope this info also applies to the mature ladies there as well.
Thank you. Regards, Paul.
Happy to hear that the information was helpful, Paul. I can’t wait for you to come back with an update regarding Slovenian women.
