Hey there, and welcome to Nomad Dates! You’re on the road to love here, and we will make sure your stay will be as pleasant as possible.
We are Aylin and Calin, a couple of veteran digital nomads who actually met while traveling. We like to explore more than new destinations – we love to explore connections too, because they matter just as much as those Instagram-perfect photos.
And since the entire “love on the road” experience is so important to us, we’ve decided to create a special place for it, a place where we can share our knowledge, findings, field reports and, most importantly, help you understand how to connect with people from other cultures, no matter if you’re an active digital nomad like ourselves, a traveler or an expat.
We know that navigating the local dating scene while traveling is confusing and even scary at times – we’ve been there already, and we know that once you get your homework done, things are a lot easier and much more pleasant.
And that’s why we created this space: here on Nomad Dates, you’ll find real, detailed guides on what dating and relationships are like in all the countries all over the world – and not just dating itself (because, truth be told, that is the easiest part!) but what the people in these countries are and how you can adapt to increase your chances at meeting someone you truly connect with.
We’re going to cover honest breakdowns of communication styles, relationship norms, cultural quirks, and everything else you should be aware of when it comes to both men and women across the globe.
No sugarcoating, no generic stuff, just practical insights so you can better understand people, improve your connections, and maybe even find your own soulmate. Or at least have heaps of fun.
What we believe will help the most is that our own unique perspective is woven into everything you see here. And that’s what makes this website different and, we believe, more useful – it’s something we’ve actively been through (and still are!), so it’s lived, not just theoretical. And where we don’t have that direct experience, we turn to fellow travelers, nomads, or simply people living in those places for the complete picture.
But enough about the “what”, letโs get personal! Here are the two people behind this website!
Aylin

Hey! I’m Aylin.
I have always been fascinated by people, which is probably why I ended up getting a bachelor’s degree in psychology. My particular focus was on relationships and group dynamics, so delving into the deeper nuances of how culture shapes connection has always felt like my true calling and it was always something that I had a deep interest in.
While I’m a bit of an introvert and, unlike what most people would think, pretty shy, I’m always thinking about the why behind every relationship, be it casual or more serious.
Iโm particularly passionate about digging into the psychological and emotional landscapes of the dating world because I feel that understanding why people communicate or commit the way they do makes a massive difference in how effectively you can build rapport.
And that’s where my psychology background really comes into play, enabling me to analyze social structures and relationship models with a discerning eye.

Calin

Hello, Iโm Calin.
I love the thrill of arriving in a new city and getting to interact with locals, fellow travelers, and generally meet new people.
I absolutely love walking on that first street, observing the subtle ways locals connect, walk, and interact, because that initial vibe tells me everything I should know about that place’s social rules and helps me come up with a game plan.
Iโm definitely the more visual and intuitive half when it comes to gathering initial insights. I like to see social dynamics play out in real-time, in cafes, on public transport, everywhere. I like the game for the sake of the game, and I’m always trying to perfect it. And while I don’t consider myself a dating guru or anything like that, I think I have a few things to share – things you will find useful.
I feel that many people get overwhelmed trying to fit local social norms, and doing everything right, forgetting that their foreigner status usually gives them an advantage and makes them more exotic to the locals.
For me, creating these articles is all about the joy of sharing those observation-based details that I love discovering, helping you get your groove on with more confidence. I’ve always been driven by curiosity about other people, and I want that same curiosity to feel accessible and achievable for you through this practical, straightforward advice.
Over the years, after countless interactions and cross-cultural dating experiences, I think I’ve developed a pretty good sense of what people truly need when it comes to dating abroad, and also the complete knowledge to share things that are helpful.
