Let’s start with the top 5 things every man should know about women in Greece – this will give you a head start.
1. They are passionate about everyone and everything they do
Passion is something that runs through Greek veins, whether it’s their friends, family, job, etc. If you ask any Greek woman what drives her in her life, passion is the answer you’re going to get, most likely.
Being so passionate about everything in their life means that Greek girls can be pretty loud, emotional, and even overdramatic.
However, this is all done with good intent, and even if you are an introvert like I am, you will still end up appreciating their passion sooner rather than later.
This extreme passion can be too much for foreigners at first, but isn’t it better to have a girl who is REALLY passionate in her life than someone who isn’t passionate at all?
2. Music and dancing are in their veins
Some guys claim they do not know how to dance. Well, Greeks don’t believe in such a thing. All Greeks have rhythm and like music, so be prepared to dance whenever music starts playing.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a nightclub or some gathering with friends or family. If the music starts playing, Greek girls and, of course, Greek men, will be the first to get up and dance.

Greek girls are always ready to dance and love men who are into dancing. Actually, many women believe that dancing is a way to show affection, so don’t shy away from dancing with her!

3. The traditional housewife is becoming a myth in Greece
Things are changing in Greece, just like everywhere in the world, and even though traditional roles are still more or less a thing here, don’t expect the “traditional housewife” experience or treatment from your girl. She is no longer the “stay at home” type who cares for her husband and children.
The patriarchal culture has deep roots that are impossible to cut, especially since the more conservative views of the Orthodox Church still push them (and religion is also big in Greece), but younger women are definitely different.
Greek ladies under 35 are hustling for sure. They are highly educated and aggressively competitive in the workforce and won’t keep their head down in a romantic relationship either. They demand exactly as much respect as they give and expect you to bring value to the table – and they will do the same.
There’s still some refreshing appreciation for classic romance and proper courtship, but that’s about it. Don’t expect submissive women here – that reality is long gone.
We’re starting to see this with Cypriot women as well – with the ones in the South, especially, who are very much like your regular Greek woman.
4. Yes, there are ‘’parents’’ and ‘’friends’’ tests for a boyfriend
Greek girls have huge families and they have a big respect for them. Huge is actually an understatement. You’re probably not going to remember the names of every single family member until later in a relationship.
But this means that you being in a good relationship with her parents is important to her, because family is extremely important.
So as soon as things get more serious with your Greek woman, expect her to introduce you to her extended family, but especially her parents. If you pass the family test, you will be treated as a part of the family.
So passing this “family test” requires you to get her family on your side. Especially her mother, who is probably the most difficult obstacle in your way to happiness.
It’s really well known that Greek mothers believe that no man is good enough for their daughter (or her son – but that’s another story). I do believe that this is a solid way of thinking, though, as it helps the ladies get the best man they deserve.
It is also usual for a Greek girl to start living without her parents much later in her life than people do in the US or other Western countries.
I would compare them, from this point of view only, with Indonesian women, who are also very loyal and family-oriented.
Don’t be surprised if she tells you that she’s still living with her parents. Even if she has her own place, their parents are going to visit her very often.
I know this might sound weird to Western people who can’t wait to become independent and start living all by themselves but family is sacred for Greek girls and they don’t have a problem with this. Neither should you!
5. They expect you to return to Greece at least once per year once you are in a relationship
If you’re dating a Greek woman, even if you met her abroad, and are living abroad, you’re going to visit Greece at least once per year, usually during the summer.
However, you shouldn’t complain about this. Greece is filled with various breathtaking destinations and you won’t be able to visit them all at once. Just make sure you don’t head over to Olympic Beach (even though it sounds really impressive) – I really didn’t like it when I visited and there are many better places to see in the country.
Greeks love their country so much that they always want to spend their holidays in Greece, especially if they’re living abroad. And I totally understand why.

What do Greek Women look like?
To sum it up in one word, we can say that Greek women are beautiful. But if you want to go a bit more in depth and the photos in this article still haven’t convinced you, let me try to describe the looks of your regular Greek girl.
They have that Mediterranean feeling to themselves: their bodies are tanned, they have dark brown hair – or plain black – with some natural curls and their eyes are usually dark, although green eyes are pretty common too.
They are usually in a great shape – the Mediterranean diet that they consume certainly shows why it’s considered one of the healthiest in the world – and they like to take care of their bodies.
They are also curvy, generally, so you’re in for a treat if you prefer curvier shapes.
It also helps that Greek girls know how to take care of themselves to always look at their best. They won’t shy away from wearing skirts – especially since the weather in Greece generally allows them to wear them constantly – and show their feminine side.
All in all, Greek girls are beautiful and they know it. And they like to highlight all their advantages in this area, which is to be appreciated.
So the cliché that women in Greece look like Goddesses is not really a cliché – it’s the truth. There is no way you won’t be able to find a Greek woman that will look exactly like that girl you’ve always dreamed of.

What are their personalities like?
The first thing that I’ve learned about Greek girls is that they don’t sweat about small things like being late.
I’ve had a situation where I was late on my date because I couldn’t find the place where we arranged to meet up. She didn’t stress about it at all, which made me understand that they are generally laid back and very chill. Of course, you shouldn’t make this a habit, but it was nice for a one-time kind of thing.
As long as you respect them and you don’t lie or treat her wrong, there’s nothing to worry about.
When it comes to affection and passion, I like to say that there are two types of girls – Greek girls and girls from other countries. Greek girls are never afraid to show and say what they think and feel.
Their display of affection is usually accompanied by big gestures, facial expressions, and dramatic, big words.
Do you know how sometimes you don’t know if girl is into you? Well, you won’t have this problem with a Greek girl. Just follow her facial expressions and gestures and you will know how she feels about you.
This passion is also present in arguments so it’s better to think twice before you start an argument with a Greek girl. She always thinks that she is right and there is almost no way to beat her in an argument. (Sad truth: even though it’s hard for us to admit it, she IS usually right).
Although Greek traditions are still present, today’s Greek girls are also interested in foreigners. They like meeting new people from other countries and hearing about their history, culture, and lifestyle.
But this doesn’t meant that being from a foreign country, no matter which country that is, gives you any advantage over the local men. It’s fair game for all, as Greek ladies are interested in great man, not their origins.
At the same time, Greeks have huge respect for their country and they are proud of it. They obviously have all the reasons too, since Greece has paid such an important role in shaping the world today.
That is why you should know at least something about it since it can be a great conversation starter.
But the truth is that you don’t even have to think too much about a way to start a conversation with a Greek girl. They are great at entertaining a discussion and will always find something to talk about.
It can be your first date, after you’ve literally just met, and you’ll still be able to talk for hours about anything and everything. It all comes naturally and it’s really pleasant.
Parents and family are an important part of every Greek girl. I’ve already told you that once you pass the ‘’friends and family’’ test, they are going to treat you like you’re part of the family. Moreover, they will also respect your friends and family.

The Smartest Ways to Meet Greek Women
While the local nightlife is fantastic, and even day-game might work here, the most efficient way to meet Greek women as a foreigner is actually online.
